I am here to help you utilize your resources wisely and effectively to actively produce rapid improvements in your life. Our counseling sessions will usually center around setting goals for recovery, looking at what has (and hasn’t) worked in the past, and then actively working on achieving the life you want now. I have found that with this approach, therapy doesn’t need to take a long time. I have training in Motivational Interviewing, Couples Counseling, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

I believe that effective therapy is a collaboration with clients, who are the experts of their own lives. My goal, as a therapist, is to offer clients new approaches for the challenges they face and to work as a team to generate ideas for trying new strategies that are accessible and realistic for my clients. I practice primarily from a cognitive behavioral perspective. I also use evidenced-based interventions including mindfulness and behavioral interventions. I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Oregon.

Jeffrey Librett, MS
I hold a master’s degree in couples and family therapy from the University of Oregon. I work with individuals, couples, and families, combining systemic-relational perspectives with psychodynamic ones. I explore with clients their concerns in the context of their relationships and the various aspects of society at large. I think the way we feel, the way we think about ourselves and others, and what we do are equally important areas to work on in therapy. My goal is to assist clients to find their own pathways to their own new solutions.

I believe that each client has the capacity for change. I work from a strengths-based solution focused approach. In working with children, I utilize play therapy, music, and art therapy. Integrating caregivers into the treatment for children is crucial and part of therapy I ask for from care-givers. I use a family systems model to aid the family in creating a peaceful and cooperative home environment in which needs are getting met without struggles. I hold a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling from California State University, Sacramento.

I believe everyone has value and is important. I also believe that people do the best they can with the skills, knowledge and self-awareness that they have at any given moment. My goal is to help those I work with to learn to cope with the challenges they are facing and to learn and build upon the healthy skills they already have. I employ a variety of methods of treatment to accomplish this goal and individualize my approach to each person, family and/or group.
I believe that as humans we thrive when we have a strong community around us. Community looks different for each of us and can range from family, friends, neighbors, fellow students, co-workers, and community support providers.
