Options strives to create an environment in which people of color do not experience racism or prejudice. This requires focused efforts to honor every human being’s individual culture, identity, and ethnicity. Systemic experiences of racism and oppression continue to exist, and we embrace our responsibility to strive toward equality, justice, and dignity.
The murder of George Floyd and so many other Black people by people with power and privilege is abominable. Sadly, the recent racist and misogynist murders of eight women, six of whom were Asian, have also deeply affected many people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent. Violence directed toward people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent has been on the rise, largely attributable to the reckless promotion of racist and anti-immigrant rhetoric attempting to link Asians with the pandemic.
Options promotes an environment in which people are safe from racism and prejudice. To do this, we must remain vigilant in protecting equity and justice for those who have been negatively impacted due to their ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, or gender expression and identity. If anyone in the Options community experiences harassment or negative bias, we want to know so we can promote an inclusive and safe environment. Concerns can be communicated to Human Resources or anyone in a supervisory or another leadership role. Please join us in standing with the Asian and Pacific Islander communities and in standing up against racism and misogyny in all its forms.
